Job Summary and Main Responsibilities

The Powder Painter is responsible for applying protective and aesthetic coatings to metal parts in accordance with established quality standards. The role involves working at various stages of the painting process, including surface preparation, powder coating application, operation of the oven, as well as hanging and removing parts from the line. The Powder Painter must demonstrate versatility, attention to detail, and comply with health and safety regulations at all times.

  • Hang and remove parts on painting racks while following safe material handling practices;
  • Prepare parts for painting, including cleaning, degreasing, and abrasive blasting;
  • Apply electrostatic powder coating using appropriate techniques and in accordance with product specifications;
  • Operate and program the oven based on recommended cycles for each type of paint or part;
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure finish quality and carry out required touch-ups;
  • Complete required quality documentation during the production process;
  • Perform basic maintenance on painting equipment, the oven, and application systems (spray guns, etc.);
  • Follow established operating procedures and comply with all applicable health and safety rules;
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to painting processes;
  • Collaborate with other members of the production team to ensure smooth workflow.

Skills We Are Looking For

 

  • AEP (Attestation of Vocational Specialization) in Industrial Painting or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial painting in metal fabrication or metal processing);
  • Knowledge of powder coating processes and curing systems (ovens);
  • Ability to perform physical work and handle parts of various sizes;
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets for paint products;
  • Strong autonomy, versatility, attention to detail, and team spirit;
  • Experience with abrasive blasting equipment (an asset);
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance (an asset);
  • Occupational Health and Safety training (an asset).

 

What We Offer

  • Work location: 20 route de Windsor, Sherbrooke;
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift. 40-hour per kweek over 4½ days (finishing at 11:00 a.m. on Fridays);
  • Salary: Based on experience;
  • Two (2) weeks of vacation;
  • Seven (7) paid working days during the holiday shutdown period;
