Job Summary and Main Responsabilities

The Quality Supervisor, in the metal transformation sector, ensures that the company’s products and processes meet established quality standards, with an emphasis on controlling metal transformation processes. He/she supervises the Quality Inspector, ensures the conformity of finished products, and collaborates with the production and methods departments to optimize quality standards. More specifically, he/she must:

  • Be responsible for implementing a control system for parts in production.
  • Know the steps during production start-up for the integration of a new product in order to meet customer requirements and specifications (PPAP).
  • Inspect raw materials, manufacturing processes, and finished products to ensure their conformity to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Manage, train and supervise on quality standards.
  • Assign tasks and ensure that deadlines and priorities are met.
  • Identify manufacturing defects, analyze their root causes and recommend corrective solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with production teams.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits related to compliance with the ISE 9001 standard.
  • Monitor regulations and standards in force in the metal processing sector.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on quality performance and non-conformities.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of quality procedures and controls.
  • Work closely with supervisors from other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.

The holder of this position is one of the main links between the company and the customer. Exchanges with customers and suppliers are both verbal and written. Most activities are in Quebec and are conducted in French. However, as many of our clients are multinationals, meetings are often held in English. For written exchanges required in English, electronic translation tools exist to facilitate understanding and the quality of communications.

Skills We Are Looking For

  • Training in quality management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar functions.
  • Mastery of ISO quality standards and quality analysis tools.
  • Mastery of quality management software and office tools
  • Very good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and customers, both in writing and verbally.
  • Experience in metal fabrication (welding/machining).
  • Knowledge of CWB certification (asset).
